
Lewis might look a long way away, but reaching the island is straightforward.
Driving to Morsgail involves the excitement of a sea journey. There are two ferry routes to the Islands; one from Ullapool to Stornoway and the other from Uig (on Skye) to Tarbert in Harris. If you are coming from the South, the Ullapool journey is the easier drive.
The roads from Glasgow to Skye pass through magnificent countryside but can be slow, whereas the route to Ullapool via Perth and Inverness is usually much quicker.
There are morning and afternoon ferries to Lewis / Harris from both Uig and Ullapool, with an extra one in the summer.
Stornoway is well served by flights seven days a week and takes less than an hour from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness or Aberdeen, which in turn have good connections with the South. All these airports run a shuttle service to London.
For the romantic, the night train to Inverness from London would be exciting and perhaps memorable, depending upon your company, followed by a flight to Stornoway
