Stalking

The hills and mountains of Lewis and Harris are famed for their large population of wild red deer.    You won’t find lumbering, hand fed, woodland living beasts here; rather wary, wily, animals; hardened from living in the extreme conditions of our hills.  They provide challenging stalking of the very highest quality in glorious scenery.

We have two principal beats.  The hills of Scalaval immediately opposite the Lodge form the near beat while the mountains of Beinn a Bhoth, Griosamul and Rapaire, which command the western bank of Loch Langavat, comprise our far beat.

The stag stalking season gets into full swing later in August and ends on October 20.  Hind stalking can be arranged from the end of October.

We are happy to take beginners stalking, with an Estate rifle, after they have been trained by Malcolm.

Alternatively stalking with cameras, or delighting in getting closer to nature and observing the wildlife is a very enjoyable and truly rewarding experience.
